Wokha, India Overview
Wokha is a town that is situated in the state of Nagaland in the district of Wokha. The town of Wokha is well renowned for its cottage industries and one can see different industries indulging in wood works, pottery and weaving. One can purchase some of these traditional products as souvenirs. The entire region is hilly in nature and there are many fruit farms that are located along the slopes. The main inhabitants of the town are the Lothas and these people are known for their colorful dances and culture. One can also witness singing and other activities. Shanta is one of the main acts of the Lotha people. Many festivals are celebrated in the place and the most important ones are Pikhuchak and Tokhu Emong.
There are numerous villages that are located nearby and they still have the remnants of traditional Lotha culture. The main villages are Yanthamo, Longidang, Longsachung, Longsa and Nrung Longidang. One can also purchase the traditional shawls that can be seen here and they are known as Opvuram for men and Longpensu for women.
The mysterious Mount Tiyi is also present nearby and many legends and myths surround this place. One can get an excellent view of the villages from here.

Wokha is a town and the district headquarters of the state of Nagaland. The Wokha district was founded in the year 1973, and is inhibited by the Lothas, which is one of the most important tribes of the state. The district spans over an area of 1,682 sq km and is located at an altitude of 1,313.69 m. This district is surrounded with several hills and ridges.
