Mon, India Overview
Mon is a town that is situated in the state of Nagaland in the Mon district. The region is in the northern parts of the state and the place has a unique culture and tradition. The region is home to several tribes and the main tribe in the region is the Konyak Nagas. The Konyaks can be seen in traditional clothing that consist of a hear gear, necklaces and head brushes. The people have tattooed faces and they are distinct.
The Konyaks are adept at wood carving and one can exquisite carvings and artifacts in the place. These can be purchased as interesting souvenirs. One can also sample the local liquor that is made from rice. One can see skulls hanging in front of the houses as the Konyak tribe used to be headhunters. There are a few places of interest in the near regions as well and some of them are Veda Peak and Naganimora. One can see a waterfall near the peak and this is one of the most pristine places in the region. It is located around 70 kilometers from Mon.
There are a few villages in the region that are worth visiting as well and some of them are Chui, Longwa and Shangynu.
