Wat Cherng Thalay or Cherngtalay Temple has been the spiritual centre of Bangtao and Cherngtalay for almost a century now after it relocated from its original site in Khao Noi. This temple has hindu gods painting outside the walls, the temple is in typical Thai-Buddhist design, with images of giant snakes on the way up to the 'ubosot' or main hall and paintings illustrating the Buddha’s good works (or ‘nitan chadok’ in Thai). It was so quiet on the grounds of the Cherng Talay temple, not many visitors, no tourists and no worshippers. Nice to walk around in silence, look at the murals and remind ourselves that we are in Asia. A large painting of Ganesh (elephant god) , a Hindu god. The writing on this Ganesh was Hindi, while the writing on all other parts of the wat were in Thai.
