One of Penang's most easily distinguishable landmarks is the old Clock Tower at the Farquhar Street / Beach Street circus near Fort Cornwallis , which was built to commemorate Queen Victoria 's 1897 Jubilee. The 60 feet high clock tower is divided into four tiers. The first tier is octagonal, followed by square base. Second and third tiers and finishes by arched and domed cupola. Moorish design elements such as the domes and arches, the balconies on the second tier with horse shoe arched openings, battlemented parapet of the first tier and etc. were used in the design. The clock placed on the third tier. From a far the clock tower looks more like a minaret of a mosque.
How to get there: The Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower can be reached by taking Rapid Penang Bus No. 10, 11, 101, 103, 104, 201, 202, 203, 204, 206, 301, 302, 303, 307, or 502.
