One of the popular attractions present in the city of Pathankot is the Shahpurkandi Fort that was built in the year 1505 AD by Jaspal Singh Pathania, who was a Rajput Chief. The fort is currently in ruins and it was used to keep a tab on the regions of Nurpur and Kangra. Located at a distance of 7 km from the region of Pathankot, this ruined fort belongs to the 16th century and is situated in the lower region of the Himalayas. The fort was named after Shah Jahan by Bhao Singh and it is presently used as a rest house.
