Rajapuri Caves, Panchgani, Maharashtra India

The Rajpuri Caves are located at a distance from 7 kms from Pachgani and the trip takes at least 30 to 35 minutes. Local taxis are available at a nominal charge of 5Rs. Passing through villages and finally descending by brick steps, you will reach the Rajpuri Caves. The Kartik Swami Temple is in one constructed out of cave-sand and has several water kunds, like the Triveni Sangam temple at Prayag. The story goes that by taking bath in this Kund, you'll be cured of all your diseases. According to the Vedshastra, the river Ganges also floats into these kunds, most of them being named after gods, such as the 'Shri Dutt Kund', 'Shri Malikarjun Kund' and 'Shri Vishnu Kund'.

Lord Karthikeya temple is the main attraction in these caves. The temple itself is constructed out of the sand taken from the caves. The journeys to the Rajpuri caves from Panchgani through serene, greenish villages will rejuvenate the mind of the traveler.
