Pandav Caves, Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh India

The Panch Pandav caves, south of the town centre beyond the cantonment, are believed to have sheltered Buddhist monks in the first century BC, a fact confirmed by the recent discovery at the cave of the remains of a stupa from this period (6m in circumference). there are several delightful spots nearby. The small natural bathing poll Apsara Vihar is along a path to the left. The poll has a broad shallow edge, suitable for children to  paddle. There is a short a scramble from there to the top of Rajat Pratap, the big fall, over 110m high.
