Malik Mughith's mosque in Mandu town has been built with elements taken from Hindu structures. As stated in an inscription, it was built by the father of Mahmud Khilji in 1452 A.D. This marks the early phase of Islamic architecture in Malwa, when materials from Hindu structures were freely used for construction.
In this mosque too the projecting porch, the arched corridor, the turrets in the corners as well as the columns inside have all been obviously taken from a few Hindu buildings and were implanted on the mosque. Some of the damaged columns have been rebuilt with similar red sandstone. The mosque itself is partly in ruins.
