Kapileswar Shiva Temple Group, Balod, Chhattisgarh

This monument is situated in Balod town which is a Tehsil headquarter about 100 kms. from Raipur city on Durg-Kanker road. This complex consists of seven temples which include Kapileahwar temple, Ganesh temple, Durga temple, Ramajanki temple, Radhakrishna temple and Hanuman temple. This temple was built by the Nagamshi rulers during the 13th–14th cent. A.D. There is a round shaped baodi in front of Kapileshwar temple in the complex with stairs and it contains religious sanctity because its water was poured on the Lingum and the sculptures to bathe them. This temple has important archeological and religious value.
